Our Story
Words Like Honey is a community poetry reading that occurs once a month at LoLoBees, located in Bay City.
You can participate either by listening in and supporting your fellow poets or by sharing poems written by yourself or someone else.
Words Like Honey was born one summer when Madison Wittbrodt & Max Gilbert came up with the idea to have local poetry night to read poetry they wrote and enjoyed.
The idea sat for months, almost forgotten, until they walked into LoLoBees Lounge for the first time. It was then that Madison knew this was the place for their event.
The day finally came - October 23, 2022. Both creators only expected a few people to show up. To their great suprise roughly 30 people came to support.
Since then Words Like Honey has occured (almost) every month with strong support of local and out of town poets.
