8.5
write a letter to your younger selves. (yes, SELVES, muahaha!! - m) start with the age where you felt the most present, then work down to your happiest & lowest age. tell them what you needed to hear. bonus points if you write to your future self!

for the pet owners! by putting yourself in your pet’s perspective, write what a day or a moment must be like or what you imagine it must be like. get into their head. if it helps, spend some time with them & read aloud the lines— see if they vibe with your words, ya know?

8.10
[this prompt involves moving] go someplace that isn’t your normal writing area. take in the scenery & how you feel. if you listen to music while writing, unplug for a couple of minutes & gauge everything. do you feel uneasy or comfy? what are the strangers doing if they are any by you? what’s the weather like?
8.11
there’s the saying “how’s the weather inside your head?” well, if there was a forecast for what goes on inside your head, what would it be? would it be directed by a comedic weatherperson or would it be a reporter recording a dire scene?
8.12
[this prompt involves drawing. even if you’re not the artistic type, we encourage you to try!] (taken from rupi kaur’s healing through words) draw what trauma looks & feels like to you. it can be specific, minimalistic, abstract, or any style! don’t overthink it, just start drawing what first comes to your head when you think of the word & memories. then, write about what you drew & how it [the trauma & the drawing] made you feel.
8.13
[this prompt involves getting on social media for a little bit.] go onto your social medias & write about what you see & how it makes you feel. does the political discourse make you feel uneasy? do the memes make you laugh but relate to the trauma? do the photos of your classmates having babies & getting married make you feel old? further into these feelings & write about it.
8.14
write a letter to a year— whether it’s this year, last year, the worst year of your life, the best year, or the upcoming. make it as personal or poetic as you’d like!
8.15

8.16
write about a time you felt so full of love you felt like you were going to burst. what made you feel like that? what was the physical time & space like— did that enhance your feelings?
8.17
if your life was a movie, what would the outline of the script look like? what would be the opening scene? what would the euphoric clip look like? would there be a soundtrack to it? what’s the climax going to play? what would the end credits say?
8.18
portray & draw an emotion without deliberately using the word or drawing of that emotion. (example: if it’s happy, don’t draw a smiley face. what does happiness feel like in your core. what color(s) is it? what does it look like externally?)
8.19
using pop culture references, write about your everyday life.
8.20
look through your camera roll, your snaps your memories, your instagram, or facebook. give a tour of what can be found. is it chaotic? if so, how? if it’s sad, elaborate on the pain. did you grow throughout your years? if so, what changed in you?
8.21
write about your upcoming birthday. are you excited for it? are you feeling down about it? are there mixed feelings— the fact that time is passing but you’ve made it this far?
8.22
write a letter to the people who thought you wouldn’t make it this far. make it sad, make it angry, make it gleeful. imagine what they would think if they saw you now.
8.23
(inspired by tyler, the creator.) in the song “NEW MAGIC WAND” by tyler, the creator, he opens with “sometimes you gotta close a door to open a window.” what does that mean to you? are there times where you had to take alternative methods to get where you wanted to be? or does it have a different meaning to you?

8.26
(inspired by chrissy) the song “socks” by chrissy uses the chorus “you would steal my socks & wear them just to sleep. so how could you wake up with cold feet.” write about a time you or someone you know got cold feet. what prompted you to feel this way? was it always an internal gut feeling or was it something someone did?
8.27
get DEEP into your brain. write about your fears. start with the small irrational ones & graduate to the more realistic ones.
8.28
(inspired by sløtface) in the song “slumber,” sløtface uses the chorus “falling asleep while we’re still talking. even as a child i know that i’ll never have friends like these again.” think about your childhood/teenage friends. ponder on how they made you feel— was there a sense of childish belonging or did it feel like something that could last forever at the time?
8.29
think about where are you from? not just the location, but the traditions, the accent, the food, the music. elaborate on what made it feel like home.
8.30
(inspired by deal casino) “in the song “robin hood,” the band uses the lyrics “it’s okay, we’ll outrun the atom bomb & have our day while everyone is gone. you can sleep while i drive, so you don’t feel anything.” think about the end of the world. how do you picture it? will there be a blast or will it end in massive freezing & heat? what about the paranormal side? will zombies take over? or maybe aliens? let your mind run wild about what might be the future. (but don’t go too far. the end can sometimes feel depressing - m)
8.31
if you were a car salesperson marketing yourself, how would you sell yourself— & be honest? how many miles have you traveled? how many people can you take at a time? when you need a change or see a mechanic? do you have bumper stickers (tattoos or piercings.) further on this wacky idea.
